SORIMMARA, which opened on July 19, 2024, in Buena Park, offers a wide range of meat, seafood and vegetables that diners can put into a clear, plastic bowl for a chef inside the kitchen to cook in a pot, which is different from a hot pot style of dining that requires customers to cook their own ingredients. Known as malatang, this meal originated in China’s Sichuan province and has recently gained popularity in Korea, where it’s been reimagined with local flavors and ingredients.
