Hope Li, Opinion Editor
Following in her father’s footsteps as a professional journalist in the ‘90s, senior Hope Li has been pursuing journalism for three years. From writing about the
Los Angeles Times’ Festival of Books to having her distance learning column featured in
The 74 Million, Li seeks to amplify student voices in all facets as
The Accolade’s opinion editor.
She has attended the Journalism Education Association- and National Scholastic Press Association-hosted spring and fall 2019 national conventions in Anaheim, Calif., and Washington, D.C., respectively; she received an honorable mention in commentary writing at the D.C. convention.
A piano player for over 10 years, Li is involved in Certificate of Merit. She enjoys telling puns to anyone listening.
Aliyah Ahmad, Photographer
Aliyah Ahmad plans to spend her senior year as an
Accolade photographer in the 2020-2021 school year. She wants to contribute to the newspaper with her great photography skills and has an active role in the school with various activities like clubs and AP classes. When Ahmad isn't taking
Accolade photos, you can find her running on the track, pursuing her passion for painting or making her friends laugh.
Grace Johnson, Web Managing Editor
Going into her senior year, Grace Johnson is the managing web editor and helps run the first ever podcast for The Accolade. Previously the assistant sports editor, she loves to report for her favorite section — sports. Along with playing outfield for the varsity softball team at school, Johnson also plays the guitar, travels, goes fishing, listens to country music, surfs and loves watching baseball.
Annie Bang, Web Managing Editor
After spending her first year on staff as a junior sports editor, senior Annie Bang moved up the ranks to become one of two web managing editors. During her time on staff, Bang wrote a variety of stories, but mainly focused on eSports coverage, sports columns and her personal favorite, movie reviews.
Aside from working for the
Accolade, Bang is also involved in the school’s varsity track and field team as the hurdle captain, multiple clubs such as Model United Nations and Amnesty International, and lastly the International Baccalaureate program. Her hobbies include reading, running, painting, and playing with her two cats.
